How to prepare Carnival Tortillas?
The carnival tortillas are a very popular recipe amongst many Canarian inhabitants, which as its name suggests, are made during carnival, the most colorful festivity of the year.
Sweet and very easy to prepare, ideal to enjoy in a short break during the day, and especially in company.

Approximately 60 minutes
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 400 grams of flour
- 15 tablespoons filled with sugar
- 250 mililiters of milk
- 1 spoon of anise
- 1 teaspoon pf powdered cinnamon
- Lemon zest
- Aníse powder
- Sunflower oil
Preparation
- Beat the eggs in a bowl, add sugar, the zest of a lemon, the cinnamon powder, the crushed anise, the spoon of anise and the flour.
- Mix all the ingredients well and add the milk.
- Until it becomes a thick mass and let it rest
- Heat a frying pan with abundant oil and introduce little pieces of the mass to give it its typical appearance.
- Once the edges get a golden colour, turn the tortilla around.
- Put it on absorbent paper.
- Decorate them with honey or sugar, while they are still warm.
